The deal :
By pre-ordering a copy of the Tom Corven Special Edition, for a deposit of 20%, you will become eligible to complete the purchase after watching how this project develops. If others agree with your judgement, they will join you. The total risk at this stage is $100US. If you pull out, you lose it. As the Friends of Tom Corven increase in number, I hope that public interest will grow, creating a virtuous cycle. The main aim of this project is to get published and my preference is to do this through traditional channels. To this end, my plan is to approach agents once I can demonstrate that there are fans who are willing to back me. If this approach is succesful, I may suddenly shut down the offer and only those who have paid their deposit will be elligble to complete the deal. Over the coming months, I will keep you informed of developments through the blog and newsletter. If at any point I decide that success is more likely than not, I will call for the balance, which, if you agree with my analysis, you should pay within two weeks of that call. If I ink a deal with a publisher, I will use the money collected from the sale of the SEs to set up base in Edinburgh and complete the next book in the series. Edinburgh - present and future - is its setting.
From the end of the month in which you complete the purchase of the SE, you will start earning the appropriate share in everything I make (paid annually). This will continue until you are repaid ten-fold. With two novels finished, including 10 Downing St, and one in the works, one in my head, and too many ideas to talk about, I expect to complete my end of the deal in full - and I want to be in a position to shout about it when I do.
