Tom Corven and Dreamwords

The podcast novel, Tom Corven, was an experiment in writing. Created in 'real time' over a period of ten months, thousands of listeners around the world waited for each instalment to drop into their computers twice each week. The novel was acclaimed and eighteen fans subsequently put their hands into their pockets to pre-order a $500 special edition of the book on the assumption that it would some day be published in the real world. To make this happen the author has written Dreamwords and, even as I reduce my expenditure by living in the mountains, I will take full advantage of technology to continue to write and look for an agent.

Dreamwords shapes the world hinted at in Tom Corven.

Born with a terrible birthmark on his face, Jack Burns is shunned from his first day at school and stared at as he walks alone through the streets of his home town, Edinburgh. When he discovers a book fused with the cliff beneath Edinburgh Castle , he is thrown into the media spotlight and linked to a strange story of two infants found inside the castle grounds over sixteen years before. One of them, a boy, had a birthmark just like Jack's and the other, a girl, is buried in Greyfriar's Cemetery. Soon, a series of nightmare events leads to a sibling battle and Jack is propelled into a medieval future where he begins to uncover his true nature. There, he finds his first love and the strength to take on an army in a fight for freedom. With twenty thousand soldiers set against Jack and his seven friends, the boy's unique physiology is all that stands between Heaven and Hell on Earth - but he is ready. This is what he was made for.
