| The Book Tom's tale is different. An introduction to The Dreamwords Trilogy, it is aimed at readers of books such as Harry Potter, The Northern Lights or the works of Edgar Alan Poe, while appealing to lovers of movies including The Matrix and old, atmospheric classics. Yet the story is unlike any of these. A dark, futuristic mystery with hints of romance, it masks its true nature behind a traditional style that draws on the techniques used by past masters. It is, nevertheless, a window through which we can wonder at our future. A trained physicist, its author takes great care to weave the fantastic from the plausible. More... |
The Reason Three years ago, Paul Story resigned a well-paid career to sleep in tents, stay with friends - on sofas, spare beds and floors - for one reason; to write. Two novels later, common wisdom has it that he should approach agents and publishers with his manuscripts. However, before doing so, he wishes to demonstrate to the industry and the public, the level of support that Tom's tale can attract. If someone, having listened to the book or read the manuscript, is willing to risk $500 of their hard-earned cash, a powerful message is sent, to anyone interested, that this book is something worth looking at. And? Already part of publishing history, success for Tom Corven in print will likely see the value of each copy of the SE rise in the eye of collectors. Its significance in leading a new route to publishing may enhance that value. In extreme cases, this effect can be extraordinary. While TC is unlikely to reach the same scale, the point is made that for a historically significant and signed hardback in good condition, the original cost of the book should at least hold throughout its life. Although the real money will come from a share in royalties, it is evident that the signed SE alone will cover the cost of this venture, should the novel prove to be as popular as its author hopes and its original audience attests. Tom Corven
The World's Most Expensive Novel If $500 for a special edition (SE) hardback, seems a little steep to you, I understand completely. This sale, however, is more than it seems. By buying the SE, you will be part of something with an impact beyond the bounds of this one novel.
In blazing this trail, by taking a small risk, you will have your name printed on the top of a single page inside the novel. You will be featured in each copy sold on-line, in stores and held in libraries around the world. The SE, signed by the author, will become valuable and you will have a share in every book the author writes until you have been repaid 10 times the amount you invested. All of the points made here are meaningless unless Tom Corven is worth the read. While its audience to-date shout that it is, you need to judge for yourself. If you agree with them, follow your instincts and be a part of something that will be huge because you made it so.
